The Whenua Rangatira Certificate of Title WRCoT (Form WR02) under He Wakaputanga and Ture Tikanga Maori Customary Law, prohibits the New Zealand Government Corporation, its agents or anyone else from appropriating your land and resources thereon under any New Zealand Government Legislation.
Maori Land Title has a slightly different process and if you are looking at occupying Maori land and partitioning it, you can contact us here
General Land Title
- Your General Certificate information is recorded on the form called Whenua Rangatira Certificate of Title Form WR02. The Wakaminenga Whenua Rangatira Land Officer will fill this form out for the landowner/s. Once all the information is recorded on the form, it will be sent to the owner to check details.
- Your Whenua Rangatira Land Officer will transfer the information on your General Land Certificate of Title (COT) to the Whenua Rangatira Certificate of Title (WRCOT)
- Your General Land CoT remains in place– Owners may want to sell or lease their land and so the General CoT remains valid for this purpose as the Maori Government has not yet established real estate services but are planning to.
