Atawhai, A Gift To All Who Came to New Zealand in 1835

By now many of you are aware that He Wakaputanga 1835 is New Zealand’s founding constitution also known as the Declaration of Independence of Nu Tireni, New Zealand, that is still in existance and still the law of precedence in New Zealand. The Declaration ensured that immigrants were aware of who held the sovereign authority, powers and laws that they would live by once settled in New Zealand. The Chiefs of the Confederation of the United Tribes of New Zealand declared that The Declaration would also set in motion a process by which all the tribes in New Zealand while still retaining their autonomy in their respective tribal areas would also form a national body of coherent governance and work together with the settlers to establish stable governance with help enlisted from Great Britain’s first appointed Resident, James Busby and Henry Williams head of the Christian Missionary Service, (CMS). The establishment of a unified body of national governance known as Te Wakaminenga o Te Rangatiratanga came about as the result of a letter being written in 1831 by 13 Northern Chiefs to King William 1V of England seeking his help to protect the country from a possible French invasion, lawless behaviour of ship runaways and criminals living amongst them and as well inter-tribal conflict. The safety of all was of paramount concern to the Chiefs as New Zealand was attracting many immigrants eager to escape the economic hardships and overcrowding in England for the promise of land and a new and more prosperous life in New Zealand.

Article 4, He Wakaputanga. the terms for Peaceful co-existence between the Settlers (Immigrants) and the NativeTribes of New Zealand

The first two articles of He Wakaputanga sets out the constitutional arrangements and who held the sovereign authority and powers over the territory of New Zealand, being Te Wakaminenga o Te Rangatiratanga o Nga Hapu o Nu Tireni or the Confederation or Congress of the Chiefs of the United Tribes of New Zealand. The third article defined duties of Congress which was to frame laws, establish a judicial system to settle disputes, to maintain peace and good order and to regulate trade. Article 4 deals with societal relationships and rights afforded to English immigrants coming to New Zealand to settle and or trade.

4.”We agree that a copy of our declaration should be written and sent to the King of England to express our appreciation (aroha) for this approval of our flag. And because we are showing friendship and care (atawhai) for the Pākehā who live on our shores, who have come here to trade (hokohoko), we ask the King to remain as a protector (matua) for us in our inexperienced statehood (tamarikitanga), lest our authority and leadership be ended (kei whakakahoretia tō mātou Rangatiratanga).”

In article 4 of the Maori translation particular attention is paid to the word atawhai which means to take care of, to act kindly towards, to adopt ( Maori Dictionary, H W Williams M A). This would apply to those of King William’s subjects (his people) who were coming to settle in New Zealand and or to trade, that they would be protected and adopted into the sovereign jurisdiction of the Chiefs of the Confederation of the United Tribes of Nu Tireni, New Zealand in accordance with articles 1, 2 and 3 of He Wakaputanga, sovereign law. The settlers would actively integrate into the Native jurisdiction of He Wakaputanga economically and socially and as well participate in local governance affairs, under the laws of Te Wakaminenga o Te Rangatiratanga, the Confederation or Congress of the United Tribes of New Zealand. These would be the constitutional arrangements by which both the native and settler populations would co-exist together in peace and good order, that together they would work to build a nation and prosper from the land and its resources. Article 1 of He Wakaputanga states “we are an independent and prosperous country”, in other words we are a free and prosperous nation, the tikanga of manaakitanga was to share and take care of all who were living within the native jurisdiction and the laws of the Chiefs. Atawhai held the notion of caring for and adopting the new arrivals into Native society. The Chiefs thanked His Majesty King William 1V for recognising their sovereign flag and it was agreed that the Chiefs would protect King William’s subjects, his people and in turn, His Majesty would protect the Chiefs from any attempt on their sovereign independence as they were emerging in their infant state (tamarikitanga) onto the world stage of trade and commerce and the geo politics of international relations.

What does this mean for Us Living in Nu Tireni New Zealand today

While the1840 treaty or tiriti opened the door for the British Crown to govern its own peoples in New Zealand, it was regarded as an unlawful act since the people were already living under the law of He Wakaputanga. It was an attempt to take away the sovereinty of the Chiefs of New Zealand as quoted in the 2014 report of the Wai 1040 claim, Te Paparahi o Te Raki, of Ngapuhi heard in the Waitangi Tribunal where the attorney general of the New Zealand defacto government law wrote. “The treaty was a failed attempt to take sovereignty away from New Zealand and therefore the inescapable conclusion in law is that the legal document of precedence in New Zealand is He Wakaputanga and nothing since then has changed anything about that, in any way, nothing at all.”

Today global governance through the UN, the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the World Health Organization threatens our very existence with their radical environmental, political and cultural goals that most Western governments have bought into. Global warming, experimental gene therapies, transgender ideology that challenges the natural order of male and female identity of two sexes, the traditional family unit of mother, father and children, attacks on beliefs in God the Creator, and traditional Christian beliefs, prohibition on freedom of speech. Depopulation by means of artificially contrived global pandemics that has led to toxic vaccines being designed not to heal but to cause disease, injury and death. All these events and more have been occurring and have escalated in the last five years, that has enabled governments including the New Zealand de facto government to become tyrants against their own people. This is the new normal that we live with now and succeeding generations will inherit, unless we stand up against it. Such a situation calls for New Zealanders whether Maori, Pakeha, Kiwi or immigrants to unite against such tyranny.

With He Wakaputanga still being the law of precedence in New Zealand this means it can be invigorated and revived to its original intention to bring both Maori, Pakeha, Kiwis and immigrants together to live as one people, embraced by what our land has to offer, to govern our country under the united governance of the people, by the people for the people, to govern in peace and good order to bring about true prosperity without inflation and crippling interest rates . To stop the global takeover of our nation by global elites with their death policies. The Wakaminenga Maori Government calls for all New Zealanders to reinvigorate our constitution of He Wakaputanga 1835 where we can implement our govenance framework that has already been determined in He Wakaputanga that will achieve freedom and prosperity, with responsibility and health and well being for all.

The Wakaminenga Maori Government has developed an alternative economic system by reestablishing the He Wakaputanga framework of governance, known as regional minenga in order for the people to govern their local areas, make their own laws, with less regulation and more personal responsibility. The Wakaminenga National Congress brings leaders of the regional minenga together to make laws at a national level and to develop international relations. Further the Wakaminenga Maori Government established the Sovereign Court of Restorative Justice in 2023 and has already prosecuted those responsible for importing the Covid 19 vaccine into the country against the law of Te Wakaminenga and have acted to ban all mRNA treatments in New Zealand.

An alternative trading and sovereign banking system that includes our own currency known as Nu Tireni Moni (NTM) has been established under Tikanga Trade https://tikangatrade.org/ As the administrating government for the Wakaminenga National Congress the Wakaminenga Maori Government has also developed economic portfolios in health, land retention, trade and industry, matauranga (education), tikanga, cultural development and preservation, law and protection, IT, minenga regional development, transitional commissioning and various administrative functions to support and service the membership to develop their minenga for self governance in their local areas. Te Kitenga, The Vision is a platform on which a strategic business plan is being developed over a five, twenty, two hundered year period in cooperation with other indigenous nations. The opening of our first embassy in Germany in 2024 has assisted in getting this iniative off the ground.

Will you spread the good news to friends and family, that He Wakaputanga is for all New Zealanders who want a better future, who want a fair and free society with responsibility, with our human rights protected, where we no longer have to struggle to live under financial tyranny of high inflation and compounding interest rates, where taxes are lowered or excluded, where every one can have their own home and earn enough to afford to live, own a vehicle and take a holiday. Where we no longer need to be concerned about gene changing technology that causes injury and death to humans and animals and where every toxic means to harm mankind is eliminated. We are at the crossroads of where we decide our country will head. We have the opportunity to start with a clean slate. Let’s head into a future with the gift of Atawhaitanga and our founding constitution of He Wakaputanga 1835, our inheritance passed down to us from both our Maori and Europeon (Pakeha) ancestors.
